The Swarm will play for the Derby Doll championship trophy on Saturday, December 3rd in Los Angeles. In early November, the Swarm secured their place in the championship bout by defeating the L.A. Derby Dolls’ Fight Crew. The Swarm has been to championships twice before, advancing to the finals each year since the team entered into the regular banked track Derby Doll season in 2009. But the Swarm has never taken home the championship trophy.

The San Diego Derby Dolls and Los Angeles Derby Dolls meet again on the banked track in Del Mar, Saturday, November 5th as The Swarm takes on Fight Crew. Both the Swarm and Fight Crew have 2-1 records this season and the team that wins on November 5th heads to the Derby Doll Championship in Los Angeles to play for the trophy.

The San Diego Swarm entered the Del Mar Fairgrounds poised and ready for battle. They were up against their biggest rival, The LA Derby Dolls' Tough Cookies. These two teams have gone head to head five times, with each bout ending with a close score and tense emotions. While the Swarm has proven victorious against the Tough Cookies during regular season in 2009 and 2010, it was the Tough Cookies who went home with the championship trophy both years.

Coming off the heels of an impressive win over the LA Derby Dolls Tough Cookies, the LADD Varsity Brawlers were ready show the league that they're a contender to be reckoned with in their match-up against the SDDD Swarm on Saturday, May 7th. Result... The Swarm showed them who's boss by winning the bout with a well earned 100 point spread defeat.

In an overtime jam, the L.A. Sirens squeaked past the San Diego Swarm in the Derby Dolls' home season opener February 12. The teams traded the lead back-and-forth with mostly low-scoring jams during the first two quarters, and the Swarm came out on top with a one-point lead at halftime. The third quarter was about the same, with the Sirens outscoring the Swarm by only three points over 11 jams. But a powerjam in favor of L.A.

The 2011 L.A. Derby Dolls season is about to explode! 2010 season saw the Sirens take on rivals, the machine-like Swarm at San Diego’s Del Mar banked track, winning the game and showing their wasp rivals who’s in charge. As the only team to beat The Swarm in the regular season prior to the Tough Cookies 2010 Championship win, the Sirens are back, taking names and numbers on their home turf, the Derby Dolls Doll Factory.

After playing each other on the flat track Saturday night CRG’s Black Sheep met up with San Diego’s banked track team, the Swarm, to compete on the banked track housed in San Diego’s downtown practice space. The roster for the Swarm is identical to the roster for the Wildfires, give or take a skater or two, giving the Swarm a chance to reclaim lost dignity from the night before. The Swarm made the most of their second chance, stinging the Black Sheep 181-64.
