The San Diego Derby Dolls will say goodbye to the 2009 season and hello to the holidays by hosting the Silicon Valley Roller Girls on Saturday Dec. 12 for a seasonal smashing of holiday roller derby action at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

The San Diego Derby Dolls are hosting a toy drive for Rady Children's Hospital. It is our goal to collect 250+ toys, one for every child in the hospital. We will have collection bins at our bouts on 11/21 and 12/12. Please bring a new unwrapped toy to support the wonderful children at Rady's, you will receive a raffle ticket as a thank you.

Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut film “Whip It,” released to theatres in early October of this year, brought roller derby mania back to the mainstream. Taking it from the big screen to real life, the San Diego Derby Dolls (SDDD) are hosting Humboldt Roller Derby (HRD) Saturday Nov. 21 for some hard hitting roller derby action at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. After playing each other on the flat track Saturday night CRG’s Black Sheep met up with San Diego’s banked track team, the Swarm, to compete on the banked track housed in San Diego’s downtown practice space. The roster for the Swarm is identical to the roster for the Wildfires, give or take a skater or two, giving the Swarm a chance to reclaim lost dignity from the night before. The Swarm made the most of their second chance, stinging the Black Sheep 181-64.

The SD Wildfires are the #1 flat-track team for the SD Derby Dolls, but they ran into some Ohio rollers on Saturday night who were tough to stop.
