Swarm stings the Cookies

SDDD September Flier

The San Diego Swarm entered the Del Mar Fairgrounds poised and ready for battle. They were up against their biggest rival, The LA Derby Dolls' Tough Cookies. These two teams have gone head to head five times, with each bout ending with a close score and tense emotions. While the Swarm has proven victorious against the Tough Cookies during regular season in 2009 and 2010, it was the Tough Cookies who went home with the championship trophy both years. Despite the Tough Cookies' surprising 0-2 record thus far in 2011, the Swarm did not underestimate their ability and went into the bout with skates a' blazin'. At half time the Swarm had a comfortable lead of 74-30.

"We had been preparing for this game well in advance," said O.B. Noxious, Captain of The Swarm. "We were thinking about the big picture, not necessarily beating the Tough Cookies, but setting a path to a spot in Champs."

The Tough Cookies were able to close the margin in the second half but not by enough. The Swarm once again came out on top in the regular season with a final score of 129-92. With the Tough Cookies' current 0-3 record, The Swarm will not have the chance to finally take the championship trophy from them, as they are no longer contenders. Stay tuned to see who will battling it out for the 2011 LA Derby Doll Championship.
